Writing our stories from sponsor's point of view

Hi all,

I am sponsoring my wife, but she knows little English.

I have

For IMM 5285, Spouse/Common-Law Questionnaire, it asked to provide a lot of description about our relationship. I am wondering if I can write our stories from my point of view?
For example, to describe the circumstances of your first meeting, can I use myself as first person to describe it? Or it has to be words from my wife (the sponsored person)

It would be better for questions for the applicant that the answers be from her point of view. You can help her with the English. If her English is so bad that at an interview the visa officer would not believe she could have answered the questions herself, that is another matter. (In fact, this is usually OK too, depends on the visa officer and country.) But if she knows some English, your helping her, or just asking her what she would say and writing that down, is OK.

I wrote up everything for my husband (he's the sponsor). He speaks perfect English and French, haha, but he's deeply allergic to paperwork. There wasn't really a lot from his point of view. The proof of relationship was from my point of view, telling when we met, including photos, and ending with a statement about how my willingness to leave a full life for a land where I don't speak the language and can't work (we live in a very French region) should demonstrate my dedication to him. We had no issues, though I do suspect that visa-exempt applicants with zero red flags are under less scrutiny than others.

Due to the language barrier, it is probably better for her to write your in her native language and get it translated by a certified translator. She could submit both copies. This way, she will be familiar with what she wrote and can answer questions should there be an interview and can have an interpreter.
