Hi,

I have received an offer from a Canadian arm of a US based company – the company will file for an ICT. The company and its immigration team are taking their sweet time to prep docs and file for ICT (gave me a timeline of 4-5 weeks) and they have indicated that it may take 11-13 weeks further for ICT approval. My role is LMIA exempt and the application will be filed from the US.

I currently have a visitor visa to Canada that was issued earlier this year. I wanted to check if there is anything I could do on my end to get a work permit sooner or be able to join the new role in the next 4-5 weeks. Can I start working while my ICT is in process?

Any guidance will be much appreciated.

No you can’t get a WP earlier. You should be working for your US employer right now if you are applying for an ICT.
