I have quite a few docs (Like Birth Cert and education certificate) which have both English and Kannda (indian local language from south). The certificates have same information in these 2 languages (i.e repetition of information in 2 languages).
I think translation is necessary if the document is fully non english.

Correct me if i am wrong.

as long as every information written in Kannada is in English, then don't worry about translation....thats just my opinion. I don't know if I am necessarily correct.

I had a similar thing, where the document was in two different languages but the entries filled in about me (i.e. my name, etc) was in the language I was born into.

i don have any doc which is purely in non english.
where ever there is kannada the same info (ever written info) is repeated

then you are good i think.

@ Maaties - I have a similar birth certificate. The document header, authority who have signed the document and various fields are in both languages - Gujarati and English, but the entries about me are ONLY in Gujarati. So do I have to get this document translated through a certified translator? Also one more que - is only a certified translation enough or does it need to be notarized too? Thank you.

Kannad + English = OK, only English Ok, Hindi + English OK. Gujarati + English = OK. No need translation anymore just send it with notary if you send copy otherwise original.
