Thought I had a relatively simple case, but after reading this forum, I'm a little worried. I'm planning on submitting my Spousal sponsorship app in a few weeks and would like to see what people think about our chances.

I'm a born Canadian citizen, I met my Russian wife while travelling europe in summer 2014. I invited her to my grandmothers place in europe and we stayed there together for 5 weeks. I proposed to her and she accepted. we tried for a visitor visa after I came home and were refused twice. We decided to marry in summer 2015 in europe and so i got my statement in lieu and we married in a small ceremony with no family present. We then went back to my grandmothers place in europe and had our honeymoon. we stayed there for 4 weeks. After I came home we tried for another visitor visa and were refused again. Now we are submitting our outland application 7 months after our wedding. we have been together now for 19 months

We do have most of the recommended proofs such as photos together before during, and after the wedding, loads of texts, phone calls, all our airplane and train tickets, western union receipts, etc. Our photos are with just me and my wife together, however, with no friends or family.

I'm 27 and she is 24, neither of us have been married or common-law. My wife does not have close family, just her grandmother who could not attend the wedding, and my parents who could not attend as well. Currently I'm living with my parents and unemployed. I was working until recently, however. We are going to visit each other for 2 months at my grandmothers place starting in May this year, too.

Any thoughts on our situation would be very much appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

It should be OK. The number of refused visitor visa requests is not ideal; on the application they must be listed, but in addition you should include an explanation that all the visitor visa requests were so that she could visit you, with proof of this.

Just explain why family could not be at the wedding. Letters of support from family members could help. For example, your parents and her grandmother could explain why they could not go to the wedding, but that they approve of the relationship and believe it to be genuine.

Could your grandmother write a letter or affidavit stating that the two of you have stayed with her, and vouching that in her opinion the relationship is genuine?

HI, thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away and her apartment is owned by the estate. I have train tickets going to the town where it is located

Oh, I'm sorry. Then just show the train tickets and any other proof you have that the two of you stayed there together.

I hope that after we submit our application and have our vacation together that we can try again for a visitor visa. I want her to meet my family in person and stay with me while we wait.

It is difficult to get a visitor visa with a PR visa application in process, but some members of the forum have done so. She needs proof of ties to her home country, such as an apartment lease or a mortgage, home ownership, a job with a letter from the boss giving her time off, enrollment in school, a return ticket, plans for what she is going to do in Canada, whatever would show she is just a visitor to Canada.

Thanks for your replies. I will try again after I get SA approval. IT only takes 8 days to get a visitor visa approved or denied. I read that having a SA letter is good proof that my wife will leave because in order to get her visa stamped she will have to go to Russia.

Personally I wouldnt try for the visitor visa again, as not only would it be harder to get one with a PR visa app in progress, but also she's been refused 3x already.

The SA letter is not good proof, as your wife doesn't have to return to Russia to become a PR.

With a PR app in process and several previous refusals, the chances of a TRV being approved are pretty much nil.

She doesn't have to go back to Russia for the PR Visa stamp. People mail their passport to Ottawa for that if you are visiting in Canada.
