hello guys. so im facing this dilemma which is spinning my head. im really confused i hope someone can help me with it
so..

im doing my pharmcy licensure in edmonton and after doing the evaluation and qualification exam this step comes next

Application to the Pharmacy Regulatory Authority (PRA)
  • Prior to your application to the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP), you must:
    - Successfully complete the PEBC Qualifying Examination Part I (MCQ). The PEBC MCQ result must be current within 3 years at the time of provisional pharmacist (intern) application.
    - Meet the language proficiency requirement.
  • Provide evidence of authorization to work in Canada with your application [open work permit]
after this step is done i will have to do 8 months of training with a preceptor and obviously can't do this without finishing the previous step

now.. how do i even get a work permit [open work permit with no employment letter] if im an international graduate im not even a canadian school graduate or have any family living there and i cant go forward with the next steps
im getting licensed in order to apply for a postgraduate degree in pharmacy that requires licensure.

the immigration and citizenship office is hard to contact so i did some search on open work permit and found this

''you may qualify to get an open work permit if you're temporary resident permit holder'' so i think this means if i get into canada with a vistor visa i can get a work permit to finish my licensure process right.. i hope someone can explain to me how do i get a workpermit for my situation im not intending to work in a paid environment, just for licensure purposes.

Based on the information you've provided so far, you do not qualify for an open work permit.

A temporary resident permit (TRP) is not a regular visitor visa. A regular visitor visa is a TRV which is what you would qualify for if you want to come to Canada as a visitor. Those who are in Canada on a TRV do not qualify for an open work permit.

A TRP is a special type of permit reserved for people who are otherwise inadmissible to Canada, typically due to a crime.

You don't qualify for an open work permit based on doing the pharmacy license. If you want to qualify for an open work permit, then you need to meet one of the OWP requirements like having a spouse in Canada on a study permit, or a spouse in Canada on a work permit in a skilled occupation, or complete full time studies in Canada on a study permit that are at least 8 months in length.
