I will be living with my boyfriend for a few months on a Canadian visitor visa. I am from the US and he lives not very far from the NY boarder. I am wondering will there be issues if I work in NY and commune from Canada for my work? Also I am wondering if the visitor visa will reset if I go through the boarder so often?

Unfortunately it's really not feasible to do this. You aren't allowed to actually live in Canada at this time - just visit. It would be one thing if you entered Canada and remained here for a few months. However if you're doing border runs frequently, CBSA will not like this since it will be clear you're attempting to live in Canada as a visitor rather than just visiting as a tourist. Sooner or later you should expect to be refused entry and you may not be able to re-enter for a while.
