Working in the US special circumstances

Hi , not sure if this is the right forum for my question but here goes.

I am a PR and I will hopefully be a canadian citizen in less than a year;

I am thinking of going to work in the US for 2-3 year period; the issue is my mother; she will be a canadian permanent resident soon (3-4 months from now) and she has to accompany me when I go to the us.

will it be hard for her to get a us visa as soon as she lands in canada as a PR? how long will that visa be and under what type (tourism??)?

If your mother is from a non-visa exempt country (i.e. her passport is from a country where she requires a visa to visit the US) - then yes, she will need a tourist visa to enter the US.

Those who are new PRs to Canada often find it difficult to be approved for a US visit visa. However there's no reason you can't try.

I believe tourist visas are given for six month periods. If your mother wants to stay longer she would have to request an extension. I think it's probably unlikely they would continue granting extensions to cover the entire 2-3 year period.
