I have the opportunity to relocate from my existing engineering role based in the UK to the same job in Canada, for a Canadian company within the same parent organisation.

The work would likely be on a contract basis, which would be above the full time hours required for CEC. The work itself would be mostly the same as I am doing now, working with the UK team on UK projects.

However I would be employed by a Canadian company, and for all documentation I would effectively be working in Canada. I would be paid in Canadian dollars and tax system.

My question is would the work count towards CEC? Or would the fact I am mostly working on UK work stop me gaining CEC?
Additionally, there is a relevant teer 1 NOC for my role. Would the company I work for in Canada use this in the employment contract and therefore count towards my CEC?

Thanks

Since you have an approved LMIA and closed work permit then yes. If you are paid employee and not on contract so receive T4 and have taxes, EI, CPP deducted then yes.

If I applied and came to Canada under and IEC visa, is it correct that the employer would not need a LMIA?

In that case would the employment still count?

As long as you are getting a T4 then yes.

As long as not self employed/contract where you are an employee as stated above.
