Working experience (hours or length of time + hours)?

Hi everyone,

To be eligible for PR under the Canadian Experience Class, it is said that one must have completed at least 1 year full time (1,560 hours), OR 2 years of part-time (1,560 hours) and so on.

I am therefore wondering if one is eligible as long as they have accumulated 1,560 hours of working experience, even if those were worked during a period of 10 months all together (2 different jobs) and not over a year? Is it the number of hours that matters or the length of time + hours?

Thank you for replying so quickly! I am not sure how they calculate 12 months when a job didn't start/end on the 1st or the last day of the month. I tried to give it a shot right below. I would be very thankful if you could shed some light on this.

So if:
1) I started a job on November 1st, 2017 and was laid off on May 25th, 2018 (6 months + 25 days in May);
2) I was on EI in between, searching for a new employer to sponsor me, but didnt' find any. I applied for an open work permit and got it.
3)I started a new job on October 12th and am still working there (19 days in October + month of November + now 18 days in December);
4) Is it right to count it this way: 7 months + 2 months (62 days) = 9 months. I would still have to work 3 months (92 days from now: March 20, 2019) to have a year of working experience in Canada and be eligible to apply for PR.

Actually I am quite unsure as to whether they would skip the fact that you have a gap of 4-months (between May and Oct) in your work experience. As much as I know, I believe it should be 1-Year Continuous. But just wait for other seniors to pitch-in here. Good luck

Nope, CEC can cut and merge exp as much as you like.

Hi romrumrira, I see everywhere that it has to be continuous, and that a gap of several months would definitely set my points to zero. You said that CEC can cut and merge work experience. Could you please share with me a link with that info?

CEC doesn't require work experience to be continuous. FSW does.
