For this semester, I have been offered Teaching assistantship...which means I will be grading papers and instructing in Labs. And of course will get paid for it

:)

However, the contract just says 120 hours/semester.

I spoke to the HR department and the faculty of graduate studies, however, they said there is no breakdown of it per week

As an international student allowed to work 20 hours a week, I wish to get a job OFF campus as well, apart from his teaching assistantship...

I am confused as to how many hours can I carry on duties with this?

On average Teaching assistantship comes to 7 hours a week...but I am very afraid about working off campus for the rest hours to cover 20 hours...

I am not sure how cic will see this per week...

What do you guys suggest I do?

I want to work off campus and make some money but I can't because I am afraid of this , and I think its sensible...

:/

Someone please help me with this..

Thank you,

The university should have an immigration consultant who knows exactly what the rules are. Find out who this person/ people are and try to talk to them in person or on the phone (not by email). Which university are you at?

To be perfectly honest mate, if you're looking to make money you're better off working outside to get the full 20-hour per week experience. However, the truth is, it might be hard to find a job that will suit your schedule since you're still in school.

And, if you're planning to take on the teaching assistant job, you won't be able to work outside as most part-time jobs tend to require you to work at least 12 hours a week to 20.

If it's experience you're after though, that teaching assistant job sounds great.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I think teaching assistant job is on campus job, therefore, there is no limitation of hours you can work weekly though some institutes might have limitation to work more than 40 hours per week.

And for work off campus -

As of June 1, 2014, you may qualify to work off campus without a work permit. If you qualify, your study permit will allow you to:

- work up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions and
- work full-time during scheduled breaks, such as the winter and summer holidays or spring break.

I think your teaching assistant job will not be counted towards 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions.

correct.
your 20 hour limitation only applies to work done as OFF campus.
since your assistant job should be considered on campus, and on campus work has no hour limitation, you can perfectly work as much as you want on campus AND 20 hours per week off campus
