Hello Members,

I hope you all are doing okay, I have a question regarding my Permanent Residency application. I completed my Masters in May 2019 and was on a student permit which was valid till 2019 December, as per the IRCC guidelines I was aware of I had 180 days to apply for the work permit and meanwhile I was working part-time (20 hours/week) while preparing for the job interviews. I went to the border to get my PGWP and the officers told me that I wasn't allowed to work after getting the graduation letter from school as my study permit changes to a Visitor visa after graduation until I change my status in Canada. However, after I explained to them that it was an honest mistake and I wasn't aware of it they gave me PGWP for 3 years and told me to be aware of the rules in future. Now I am applying for my PR, should I mention it in my letter of explanation? Has anyone else gone through the same scenario? Thank you!

Yes, I believe there's one question on your application form which asks if you've ever worked without authrization.
You'd have to mention it there again I believe.

And it wouldn't be a problem since IRCC already knows about it.

Thank you! I didn't find any option to select where it says "If you have ever worked without authorization", however, I am explaining this condition in my LOE just to make it clear for the Immigration officers. Hope it works out for me.

Yes that's better.
And as I said, nothing to worry about since IRCC knows about it already.
