Heard from a few folks that it delays the application when you go through the notary. This was back in 2023/2024. Wanted to know if it's still the same case now too.
I think the answer is that it can delay it (there have been sporadic reports of it here) but there are not enough consistent reports to say for sure.

My intuition is that for those who became citizens recently (i.e. by grant/naturalization) it probably isn't a significant issue - or at least somewhat less likely to be one - because IRCC already has all the info (as well as fingerprints, etc). But that really is just a guess on my part.

Or if you're time sensitive: well, draw your own conclusion.

The delay is only of a few days/weeks because they sometimes perform an extra review and can take more time to verify your identity. Most people don't even notice it. Use a regular guarantor if you are worried by it and have them mail you overnight if anything's a concern here.
