You can work immediately. The conditional PR adds no restrictions on eligibility to work or health cover.

As soon as you have sin number you can work. It's my understanding that they now give you a sin number when you land and you don't even have to go to a service Canada office to get one anymore, which is fast and convenient.

as soon as you get a SIN (Consider applying at the airport where you land if they have this service because it saves trouble of having to go to the service ontario office and lining up), you can work.

no this isn't true. you have to go to the provincial service office to get a SIN # (ie: service ontario). It is not autimatically given at landing, CIC does not have the autority to give these out. it's a completely separate part of the government. There is a kiosk at the toronto airport, so most people who land there can get them at the same DAY as landing, not at the actually landing. i'm not sure if other airports have a similiar service.

Exactly, it is a separate service operated by a different government agency. Don't be alarmed if you don't see the "kiosk" at the airport. It seems to be ONLY at one terminal, and most definitely not at the terminal where we landed. Sorry I don't know which was which.

My uncle and family landed in Toronto at the Pearson airport in nov 2013. They had the kiosk there where they were directed to and filled in their application for a SIN card. U don't get it right away. It's just that it's convenient cz u don't have to find their office elsewhere in the city to apply.

You have to wait for the card but when you apply for the sin you get the number immediately and the card should follow in about 10 days, at least this is how it is when u apply for it at the Service Canada office. Id imagine it is the same in the airport.

I remember reading on here recently that cards have been discontinued. I can't confirm this however.

As of March 1st 2014 all plastic red and white cards have been discontinued .They will give you a piece of paper with your sin # on it .No waiting for cards
