Hi

I have been to Canada for over two years under the work permit. I would like to extend my work permit for another year. I am in LMO exempt profession and my employer is willing to provide 7 months of contract (due to funding restriction). I have applied for several research grants, they are pending review. If grants approve, I will have another year of job. Under this scenario, can I apply work permit for at least a year. How can I do this? Any pointer would be highly helpful.

I was thinking to ask my employer to offer me a contact for 7 months. At the end of the contract, they could state "the contract could be extended for another 5 months subject to external funding approval". Would this be suffice enough for the visa officer to grant one year work permit?
