Hi - my wife and I are considering moving to Vancouver for a couple years. I am a consultant and will be flying between Vancouver and the US a couple times a month. While in Canada, I would be working on US based projects from my home in Canada. I would otherwise be working 40% of the time in the US. My kids would be attending a private school. What, if any, work and/or study visas would be needed? We would not have any effect on Canadian employment opportunities other than to fill the cash registers of local businesses! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What is your status? Are you a Canadian citizen or permanent resident?

The first challenge you face is that you can certainly visit Canada - but you can't move here without some sort of visa that allows you to stay long term.

To qualify for a temporary work visa - you'll need a job offer from a Canadian employer for a position in Canada. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp

Immigrating to Canada is another option. But it takes much longer and you have to have sufficient points to qualify. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp
