We are running into a small problem now. We would like to know if it's possible to get a work permit for intra-company transfer while the transferee's outland sponsorship is in progress? The transferee is the sponsored person in the outland app from the US. Thanks!

You will have to go through the normal process for obtaining a restricted work permit. The employer has to get a positive Labour Market Opinion that says that there are no qualified Canadian applicants for the position before they can offer the job to the foreign national. If they are able to do that, then the FN takes the positive LMO and the job offer and applies at Buffalo embassy for the work permit that allows them to work for that particular employer, for that particular position, for a period of time specified by the permit.

Thanks Robsluv. On the CIC website for restricted work permit, it says the applicant needs to "Satisfy a visa officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your work permit". How does that work if the applicant has a spousal sponsorship underway in the time being?
