Hi, just a question i feel something is wrong with my situation, basically employer hired an agency to process our lmia which i assumed they paid and then later on the agency charged us a work permit processing fee, In which later on our employer deducted these cost to us since we cannot pay for this outright. I wonder if this work permit processed by the agency falls inside as recruitment fee, has anyone have experience on this. I am asking because i was not aware of the concept of recovering costs in the recruitment fees and only for LMIA processing, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Are you working in Canada now. That is illegal. Employer pays fee. So notify EDSC and the RCMP.

Yes this is illegal in Canada. Employers cannot recover LMIA or recruitment fees from workers under any circumstance. It does not matter if you agreed to it, the deduction from your wages violates Temporary Foreign Worker Program rules. Report it to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), your work permit stays valid even if you complain against your employer.
