Work Permit Extension (Oct, Nov or Dec, 2015) online or paper base applicants

So why if I've worked 5 months in Canada, I cannot extend my work permit? I'm on the IEC program right now, working full time. So should I go for exemple to the border and apply there for a work permit? I don't understand...

Having a current WP is only one out of many things you need to qualify for a new WP. The term WP extention is not really accurate. Really you are getting a new WP and you need to qualify for that WP based on its requirements.


When does your IEC work permit expire? There are things you can do to qualify yourself for other work permits but you may have to start working on those things now.

My bf came here on an EIC permit and with that he could work any place. So he got a full time job and after 6 months of working in Manitoba he could apply to the provincial nominee program. Different provinces have different criteria for applying to their PNP.

Once my BF got his PNP nomination he was able to get a closed WP and apply to CIC for permanent residence. Once he was far enough along in the PR process he could apply for another type of WP called BOWP. All of these WP'S have been called extentions but we're all approved for different reasons and have different stipulations on them.

Once you have worked a year in Canada you may be eligible to apply for permanent residence under express entry. So that is an option. But basically the easiest way to keep working in Canada is to apply to stay permanently in Canada.

Other wise in order to get another WP once your IEC expires you will need to have your employer apply for a LMIA and prove that they could not find a Canadian to do the job. This will cost the employer $1000 and it usually takes a while to get the LMIA. After the LMIA then you can apply for another WP and that can take another 4 months.

Keep in mind that with a EIC you can not have implied status so you must have a new WP before your current EIC expires.

My bf got his BOWP today.

He applied on January 19,2016
Received notice that it was approved on April 6,2016
Received by mail April 11,2016

He is PNP applicant who applied for PR in April 2015.

His employer name and occupation are on his PNP certificate. However, there is nothing on his certificate that clearly says employer restriction.

We were a bit worried that he would not get the WP because the employer name was on his PNP certificate. As well as the new rule about needing to pass eligibility.

His employer would not pay the compliance fee for the closed one so our only hope was to either get the BOWP or to get PR. He has been on implied since February 19,2016. His BOWP is good until March 2017. Weare sure he will have PR soon so all we have to do is wait.

He got the request in the middle of January and did his medical on February 1, 2016 for his PR application.

My PR is under process I received my file number about September last week I got the request to pay my landing fee and i paid, but I never got a request for MEDICAL anyone have any idea whats going on

They are not sending medical request since mid of june but ask the applicants to pay RPRF so let see.....I even did not receive that reminder email....

I don't need to do a medical because I am a Canadian.

He paid RPRF at the very beginning when he submitted hi application. He got the RPRF reminder at the same time as his MR mid January.
