According to my personal experience, it is different from state to state. some states would allow you give a test for G class if you have any valid license from any country. But some would require you pass G1 first, even if you have a license from your own country. And when you said no traffic violation record, for those people who did not get this, it is your driving record. Because in case if you license is expired by the time you are in Canada, then you have to provide that record for your license to be accepted. But in most cases if your license is valid, then no record is required. Taking a record would help you to get cheap car insurance for sure. And if any body is planning to buy their own car, I strongly suggest to take a record, especially if it is clean, cause car insurance would be a big expense.
