Work Experience Question. Please Help.

Hi,

I have been working in Calgary as an Early Childhood Teacher since Aug 2009. My visa and work permit are valid til July 31, 2011. My question is - since I work in a school and we have our summer vacation (hardly 2 months) and I am under EI during those weeks (this happened once last summer break), am i still eligible for the CEC application assuming that I have been working in a school for TWO school years? Because I am aware that the requirement is 2 years full time experience.

Please help me with my queries. My situation is a bit different from others having to work in a school which summer vacation is inevitable.

If you were on EI, then you should not count those weeks as employed.

Any chance of renewing your contract/permit? You have 3 years in which to obtain the 2 years of experience - you will need to count the total number of weeks employed (minimum 104) and hours (minimum 3900).
