Hi guys,

So my confusion is that I am not sure how should I show my experience in my express entry profile. I have 5 yrs experience in Sales and Marketing. So technically My NOC job code is 0124. However all the job titles I have held are not exactly the same as mentioned under the example titles under NOC 0124.

For example I worked with a multinational internet start up for 3 years where the first year I joined as 'Sales and Marketing manager', then promoted to 'Key Accounts Manager' and then eventually to 'Area Sales Manager'.

Of the above three job titles only the Sales and Marketing manager is mentioned under NOC 0124.

What should I do in this case? Please help!

Only quote the job for which you’re claiming points for which is noc 0124. The other information would be entered in personal history.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

So you mean, I do not submit my complete work experience history in my EE application under work experience? Only the time I worked as the exact title mentioned under NOC 0124?

That would be a strange case as I would then not have the required 3 years full time experience in the NOC 0124. And secondly, the job role still was that of Sales and Marketing manager, even though I was promoted to Key Accounts Manager and eventually to Area Sales Manager.

Even though the names maybe be different the roles should be similar to that of the NOC selected. As long as you satisfy most of the job functions for the NOC. After receiving ITA you can quote other experience you’re not claiming points for therefore you wouldn’t need to submit a reference letter for them. Sometimes persons change companies and it maybe difficult sourcing reference letters.

The NOC code I used and the name of my role were completely different but the job functions and responsibilities were similar. That’s what is most important.

Thanks so much for your prompt response.
My experience is mentioned below -
1) Jan 2010 to Nov 2010 - Director Sales and marketing (self-employed) in my own company (0013)
2) Dec 2010 to Nov 2012 - Client Servicing Manager with a Media company (0124)
3) Dec 2012 to May 2015 - Sales and Marketing manager > Key Accounts Manager > Area Sales Manager with internet company (0124)
4) June 2015 - May 2018 - Co-founder and CEO of my own internet start up. (0013)

So just to confirm what you are saying, if I want to claim points for 0124 and base my application on that, I can totally not mention 1) and 4) under my work experience? Stick to 2) and 3). And I should mention the actual titles I held during these jobs, inspite of them not matching exactly with the titles mentioned on the ircc website.

Also, in my job 3), if I have been promoted and held 3 job titles during my stint with the company, I should make 3 separate entries into my application for this job?

For first job, mention 0124.

The other poster is incorrect, you can mention multiple NOCs experience under combined work experience. your Primary NOC can be both 0124 and 0013. I would insist you to apply under 0124.
