Hi everyone,
I have a pretty unique scenario on my hands. I am an Indian citizen and resident. I was in the US for education and subsequently work upon graduation on OPT. I should clarify I worked through a consulting company for one of their clients'.
My work duration was from September 2017 - June 2018 after which I returned to India.
June 2018 was when my OPT expired and I was not able to get H1B sponsorship. However, my direct boss and the consulting company still wanted me on board which is why they worked out a way to still keep me employed from India. So my situation currently is that I am still working through the same consulting company for the same client under the same job.
Work dates -
September 2017 - June 2018
August 2018 - Present
The job falls under NOC A - once again everything is the same excepting that I relocated and have a gap of about a month and a half. Having read a lot of posts on here about what is considered continuous employment and what is not, I feel, unfortunately for me, this will not be counted as continuous. I have obtained a proof of work experience letter from my employer which specifically mentions the work dates and that this is continuous employment with relocation overseas. Will this work?
In the case it does - how do I show it in my profile? In the EE profile I have to spell out the fact that I worked from Sept. 2017 to June 2018 and then another entry which states Aug. 2018 to present. My thinking is telling me that the system will automatically not give me points for work experience since it is broken out.
This part is separate but I thought I should mention this - I also worked as a Teaching Assistant while studying for 20 hours/week. The job lasted from August 2016 to May 2017 which is usually the academic year. I am assuming this won't work either?
Any help would be appreciated. Please let me know if I have missed out on any details. If my work does not count as continuous, does anyone have any suggestion on what my alternatives are?
Thank you!
