Good morning everyone,

I had a question I was hoping someone can help with.

My girlfriend was sponsoring me for PR under the family class - common law route. We already sent off a perfectly legitimate application which is currently being processed, however we have since broken up which I'm guessing now makes our application invalid.

So I was just wondering how I go about withdrawing the application?
Also, is there anything I can to still get PR under through this route? Or now that we've broken up, I'm guessing it's all just time and money wasted.

Hey pete6256,

your girlfriend needs to withdraw the application - see here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse-apply-after.asp
if you click on "withdrawing my application" then you will be given the address to do it.

She can withdraw before the PR is issued, so she should do it as soon as possible.

If you have broken up, there is nothing you can do to stay in the Spousal sponsorship, and if you don't declare it, you are committing misrepresentation.

If you want to immigrate to Canada regardless of your relationship, you can have a look at the other programs - Federal Skilled Workers, and some of the provincial programs.

Good luck,
Sweden
