I plan on applying CEC near the end of when my work permit expires so I don't think I will be eligible for a bridee permit... However my friends are asking me to come on a year work visa to Australia with them to backpacking. Rather then waiting back in my home country, will it hinder my application if I work in another foreign country and do my medicals there and stuff? Just wondering if possible, risky or not possible at all, thanks...

No, you are not required to remain in Canada during processing, and you can do your medicals anywhere in the world that you can find a designated medical practitioner. You just have to be sure to update CIC with your current contact information, including email and mailing addresses. If they CAN'T reach you, it will certainly hinder processing.

I am using a lawyer in Canada and will be using the office as my mailing, will that be sufficient since I'm going to be sending off my application from that very office and will have stuff mailed there too. I'm confused what you mean by if they reach me it will hinder processing, does that mean I can't do backpacking in another country?

If you are using a representative, that simplifies things for you. In that case, just be sure your representative can reach you :)

Hi jes_on
Is it ok to give a friend`s mailing address who lives in Canada, when I move out of Canada. And do my medicals in States but keep mailing address of my friend (Canada address).
thanks

CIC distinguishes between mailing address and residential address. Yes, you can give a friend's address for mailing, but you'd better also give an actual residential location (that is, if you are physically residing in the USA, give a US address; if Australia, give an Australian address), whereever you are legally residing. If your work permit expires, then obviously you will no longer be a legal resident of Canada.

I realize that may be difficult while traveling, but even if that means updating your address frequently, you'll have to figure something out...

Right, residential address I will update once I move out of Canada.
