Will they accept passport beyond 30 days notice?

Long story short, my common-law partner got her approval correspondence on May 5th, requesting that she send her passport within 30 days to get the visa.

But the relationship has been going through a rough patch and we're trying to work things out, but the 30 days are coming up and I don't think she's gonna send her passport in time. Have the VOs been known to accept the passport beyond the allotted 30 days?

Thank you

its a high risk of refuse the visa.

Agreed. You'd have to have a good reason for an extension too (and I wouldn't recommend saying you need time because your relationship is in a rough patch. That's a bad idea).

How long have you been common-law? If she will have Condition 51 on her COPR you could try to work something out with her. Ask her if she can submit her passport and go through with the rest of the process while you try to work things out. If things don't, you can always report that the relationship is broken down. She can even ask to have her PR revoked if she wants if that's necessary.

Is it an issue of her not wanting to go through with PR, or just her not communicating with you?

Oh :(

Thank you for the info.

It's an issue of her not wanting to go through with PR anymore and being in a relationship. I thought I had read cases of people sending it in after the 30 days, but I guess I read it wrong.

I would suggest that you talk to her about it all once more and explain to her that if her passport is not received within the time period set by CIC then it will be a long wait to get back to where you were in terms of the application process. This entire process can be very stressful on a relationship. Good luck
