Hi to all,

I am on work permit-PGWP which I have received on 26th October 2017. I had applied for the PGWP on 22nd August 2017. I am working from the same day (i.e 22nd August) as a full time employee.

1.From when can I start counting my experience for CEC?

Another question

I have a gap of around 10 days as I was on layoff by previous company on 26th Dec 2017 and started new job on 8th Jan 2018. I have a work permit of 1 year exactly and from which I am on layoff for 10 days that means 10 less working days.

2. Am I still eligible for CEC? How officers count work experience? Is it only 1560 hours or must be 365 days as I can not complete 365 days but I can complete far more than 1560 hours.

1. CEC work experience starts from you start working with your PGWP.

2. If you got laid off for 10 days, just work 10 extra days then apply to be safe. But full time hours are a min of 30 hours per week for 1 yr. So you might still be eligible.
That's incorrect. Valid work experience starts from the moment one applies for a PGWP.

From the date you graduated or the date you submitted your PGWP application, whichever came later -
- If you applied for your PGWP before you graduated, then you can use the date of graduation (or last date of your final semester)
- If you applied for your PGWP after you graduated, you are authorized to work from the the date you submitted the PGWP application, and can count it then.

You only count hours if you are working part-time, which by definition will take longer than one year to obtain the required hours.

If you are working full time (30 or more hours per week), you need to work a full 52 weeks. If you have authorized work experience before receiving the PGWP (see question 1 above), you might be able to fulfill the one year requirement.
