Will I be eligible for a PGWP after graduating from those?

Hi all! ;) ;D

I plan on moving to Canada in the near future. I'll end up on a student visa first. I've come across some interesting programs in a few private BC colleges and wonder if I can apply for a work permit when I graduate.

All of my choices are private institutions located in British Columbia:

- AAA Aviation Flight Academy (DLI: O110735702489)
- Professional Flight Centre (O19238920192)
- Pacific Flying Club (O19274466542)
- LaSalle College Vancouver (O19283933672)

In the aviation schools I'd do the Private Pilot License progam and then the Commercial Pilot License program (that would all take around 12-14 months). When it comes to LaSalle, it's interior design (duration: 1 year).

Not sure if that means anything in particular but all those institutions are mentioned on the government website.
Does that mean they're officially recognized? ::) :-X

I'd be EXTREMELY thankful for any precise answers regarding my issue as I need to choose the right school for me very soon! ???

To the best of my knowledge, LaSalle is a private college (not a public college). So I would stay away from it. Getting a PGWP after attending a private college is often problematic. It doesn't matter that it's listed as a DLI on the CIC web site - this doesn't guarantee you'll get a PGWP after you're done.

I can't comment on the flight schools.

Hi scylla!
Many thanks for your answer. ;) ;D

Well, one of those aviation schools is my choice no. 1.
It's too much hassle - I've decided to hire a licensed visa agent (lawyer, member of ICCRC) that will assist me with the immigration process till I've become a resident in Canada. I believe that's one of the very few things worth spending money on. ::) Hope you think the same.

To be frank, I did quite a lot of research on my own beforehand, but - you're totally right - private colleges seem a problematic option, even though probably all flight schools are NOT public either.

I'm seriously wondering what it all depends on, and why one private college is recognized while the other is not. And why it's so damn hard to find out if a particular academic institution qualifies for a PGWP.
That's a quote from the CIC website:
(...) you must have graduated from:

- a public post-secondary institution, such as a college, trade/technical school, university or CEGEP (in Quebec), or
- a private post-secondary institution that operates under the same rules and regulations as public institutions, or
- a private secondary or post-secondary institution (in Quebec) offering qualifying programs of 900 hours or longer leading to a diplôme d’études professionnelles (DEP) or an attestation de spécialisation professionnelle (ASP), or
- a Canadian private institution authorized by provincial statute to confer degrees but only if you are enrolled in one of the programs of study leading to a degree as authorized by the province and not in all programs of study offered by the private institution. (...)
The second paragraph sounds a bit shadowy, you kind of know everything and nothing at the same time. Haha :-\
