will GED exams help??

hello
i landed and came back for one year as i need some savings for survival in Canada.
if i appear for GED exams in UAE will it help me to get admission in any college in Toronto in matured students courses etc.
Can i take admission in early learning diploma or in any graduation program with GED.(will they accept same GED done in Dubai)
pls guide.
