Hello everyone,
I'm partly venting, partly hoping for advice. Lawyers take money from me each time I meet with them and offer useless advice.
I'm happy to pay but feel like I'm being cheated.
I'm a PR holder living in Canada. My wife is a U.S citizen living in New York. We got married in January this year.
I'm gathering documents for a outland spouse sponsorship.
My wife is now pregnant and due around October. How does this affect the application?
So far we haven't done the medical and the FBI criminal check certificate(applied in January) hasn't come through.
Do we wait to get medical and FBI certificate before applying?
Do we do xrays after delivery and then start new application for the baby then?(if so, how?)
Should we wait till baby is born to do the application for wife and baby?
My wedding album is massive... Should I send some selected pictures as proof?

Any answers to these questions would be appreciated.
Am really depressed.

If you take the time and search this forum you can find all of those answers without a lawyer. As your wife is from the US yours is a lot lower risk than many others. I can not answer your questions but I have seen them addressed many times. Try to relax but I know how you feel!

1. It depends on whether you are willing to have the x-ray done while she is pregnant. It is quite safe but many people and doctors choose not to do it. If so, she has to wait until after the birth for the x-ray and you will then need to add the baby to her app.

2. She needs to complete the medical before sending the app. If she chooses to wait on the x-ray, the doctor will do everything else and give her an x-ray deferral form. She can send the app wthout the FBI cert; include a letter of explanation and the receipt.

3. It's your choice on the x-ray. As i said above, the baby would be added to her application.

4. No, you shouldn't wait until after the birth to apply.

5. Yes, include a small selection of wedding photos, along with other relationship photos. Quality over quantity.

Thank you very much for your reply. You've helped clarify so many points for me. I should send you a cheque in gratitude.
I mean it. You've eased my mind. God bless you.

I think we will do the medical next week(it's already booked) - then send the application in with the x-ray deferral notification.
Will play it by ear as to the FBI certification. Today when I called them, they said they working on queries from 8 February.

One last question if I could push you on this sbuject, when people suggest we add the baby to the application after delivery... What does this mean? Is there specific forms for the baby or do we send CIC a letter informing them there is a baby also?

It means you add the child as a dependent in your spouse's app so that s/he becomes a PR along with her. You will email your VO and inform them of the birth. They will tell you what forms you need to redo. The child will need to have a medical done and you will need to get their passport.
