Wife just got approve for Work Permit. Can we go get the SIN number with just the approval papers from CIC or do you need the physical permit?

As with everyone on here immigration is slow. So she has been waiting to work for quite some time. As a result I am wanting to know if service Canada will issue the SIN without the physical permit.

Her documents say the work permit number will that suffice?
