Whose address is on the COPR?

Hi everyone,

The above webpage says:

"The officer will also use the address on your COPR to have your permanent resident card mailed to you. Make sure your Canadian address on the COPR is correct."

Where will the address on the COPR come from? Is it the sponsor's mailing address on the IMM 1344 form?

It will be the address in which the applicant will be going to live in Canada. From what I have heard/read, it will be written on the CORP when you get it. In the landing interview you will be able to update it if it happens to be different, or confirm that it is correct.

I might be wrong, I am sure others will reply to correct me.

Yes that's the thing..... how would the foreign visa office know the address where the applicant will live in Canada? None of the application forms ask that......just one of them asks in which city (as opposed to address) the principal applicant will live in.

I am just going to guess that they would assume the applicant will live with their spouse....

The address that will be printed on your COPR will be based on the address of your SPONSOR in CANADA.

..and what if the Sponsor and the Applicant are both living outside of Canada (where the Sponsor will be returning to live in Canada at the same time as the Applicant lands)? they wouldn't have a Canadian address.

hmmm, good point!! Perhaps if a letter has been submitted from a family member or friend that the couple will be staying with on arrival to Canada they will have that information?

Makes sense....that's what I thought . So yeah the COPR address will follow whatever mailing address specified on the sponsor's IMM 1344 form right?
