Hello, I have a question which I am quite confused
year ago, I sponsored my parents come to Canada as PR.
As a sponsor, I have to undertake my parents 20 years.
However, now they want to sponsor their dependent. So at this point, they are the sponsor.
My question is who will take responsible to undertake that dependent? if in the future, this dependent apply for any benefits because of any reasons, does it effect me?

appreciated for any advices :)

Who is the dependant because that person would have been included, declared and passed the medical in their PR application? Through what program would they sponsor them?

If they are dependents that were declared, went through medical and background check back when you parents were sponsored, and didn't land as PR with the parents, your parents can sponsor him/her (i.e. your sibling under 22 years old).

The sponsor will be responsible to undertaking (i.e. your parent in this application). BUT if as a result of hardship to support this dependent during their understaking and if they need to get social assistance, then you will be responsible for what they owe.

It appears are though you only sponsored your mother because your parents are divorced although they had been visiting you and staying with your on a supervisa in your home as well as traveling together. If you are trying to sponsor your father their living situation as well as traveling together could become an issue.

OMG. OP said "parents" and I assume both mom and dad and he/she is asking about a sibling that didn't want to come and change his/her mind now.
This is bad. I feel cheated while trying to answer the question without the proper information.

If the dependent is a NEW spouse of OPs' mom, sure, the mom will be responsible. BUT she has to show her ability to support her new spouse. And if they couldn't afford their living and need to get social assistance, then OP still needs to pay back. (overtaking for the mom)

If it's the divorced husband, OP may face investigation if the divorce was done for the convience of immigration and that's immigration fraud.
So here, I am hoping that OP's mom found new love and is trying to just sponsor OP's step dad.

yeh my both mom and dad did come to canada as PR. yes one of my siblings did not accompany and intertested to come now. He is around 20 and was drug addicted in the past. So I am afraid when my parents decide to sponsor him come here would effect me if something goes wrong. anw, I guess I had my answer. Thank you!
