Hi Guys need some infor.Initially for applying for a pos doc position a work permit was needed but did not require an LMO.Can anybody tell me which category will it fall into. Will it be a part of International mobility program as it does nor require an LMO ?

Post docs are generally LMO exempt since i know at least one post doc guy who is here on a work permit.

Other than that, it is a regular skilled position based work permit.

Thank you FKL but just wanted to know that when now extending the work permit in 2016 it will be falling under the international mobility program:)

All LMIA-exempt positions fall under the International Mobility Program, so yes, your position will too.

Great so that means if they reduce the years in the temporary foreign worker program from the summer 2015 then this will not be applicable to the International mobility stream and we would be able to extend the visa beyong two years. That would be helpful.

I suspect post doc like positions should already be in EXCEPTIONS from the 4 year (or newer 2 year) limit.

NOC 0 and A are already in exceptions so are several other categories.

Thank you FKL it comes under NOC B though, gets paid in high median wage in Ontario. As they are changing the tempoirary foreign worker program, they ahd mentioned they will reduce the 4 year limit to 2 years for foreign workers under temporaray foreign worker program. But as it falls now under International mobility hopefull this will be exempted but if that is so then it will be very nice:)

You are welcome. From what i have heard so far, the two year limit is only applicable if you are BELOW the provincial median wage. But nothing is absolute for now since the rule will only come into effect next year.
