Hi all,

I'm a Japanese citizen from birth and I've been living in Australia for 5 years.
(2 years with provisional visa and then 3 years as permanent)

My husband is a Canadian citizen and I'm applying for permanent residency as his spouse from outside of Canada.
We are going to post our application to Mississauga soon.

Once the sponsorship is granted, I'm aware that my application will be sent to the office in the country where I have citizenship or in the country where I'm admitted to live more than 1 year.

In my situation, which country my application will be sent to?
Japan or Australia?

I need to know this as I've been reading the document checklists of both countries and found out that
the office in Japan needs ORIGINAL of Marriage certificate and
Australia needs a PHOTOCOPY of Marriage certificate.
(We got married in Canada so marriage certificate is from Canada)

Could anyone please advice me regarding this:)
Thanks so much for your help!!

Unfortunately only CIC knows as CPC-Mississauga will decide if your app is sent on to visa office based on citizenship or current residence.

So it could be Sydney (as Australian resident) or Manila (as Japanese citizen).

The safe thing is to include things from both lists.
I would not want to send in my original marriage certificate. They sometimes return things, and you can ask for it back, but still .... For me, I would assume that they will go with your country of residence, and so use the Australian checklist.
If they send your application to the visa office that deals with Japan, you can send in your original marriage certificate then to be added to the file.

You aren't reading the checklist correctly. Japan guide states quite clearly only a photocopy is needed, NOT the original.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3913e.pdf
Send originals of all the Immigration forms listed in items 1 to 6 below

- Marriage cert is NOT one of the items 1 - 6.

8. IDENTITY AND CIVIL STATUS DOCUMENTS
A marriage certificate, birth certificate, Family Register or certified official copy
