We are planning to settle in Calgary one day and I have a question about accomodation.
We have a girl and a boy, they are 6 and 4 now and will be a year older when we arrive. Considering the family structure is there some kind of rule according to which we must rent 3bedroom appartment instead of 2room.
Does anyone have experience with Boardwalk appartments company? Lakeview and Glamorgan, SW, are those nice areas?
That is the area where i live right now. It is good, My friend is living in the board wak at Glamorgan. It is ok Safe way, rbc bank closer and transport

Hi,

North East is the quadrant where most of the desis live. Its a cheap location and home for almost all of lower income families ,unfortunately no good schools (it can be confirmed by Fraser institute ranking and doing some internet research) ,and crime rate is highest in Calgary(especially in some communities).Usually when you are roaming there ,it appears you are in any town/city of south east Asia.

NE could be the first option for anyone who is looking for a affordable housing initially and JUST want to stay close to desi community (which are the only two advantages of living in NE) but if you want to give good quality of life and education to your kids better live in SW,NW or even SE.

Hope it helps!

I was also thinking of moving to Calgary. Thanks.
Hi,
I just wanted to let you my opinion. If you are planning to come here for work, this is not the time without any doubt. Several lay-offs happened during the last two weeks and more to come. Economy will become very slow, atleast short term.
Thanks

I think it will depend on his field of work. He can search for work before arriving.

Hi, I am a newbie at this, can someone please tell me where is the best place to live in Alberta, Calgary?
Me and my wife can live temporarily. I would appreciate if people can give some guidance and information about the area and rental properties I can search for. I'd like to start proposing the people who already knows Alberta to tell us what's a nice neighborhood to look for a place t

I have NEW FURNISHED 2 Bedrooms Basement for rent in Coralsprings Area It is infront of Public and School Bus stop.No need to buy any furniture of any thing for living except suits caseo live, whats usually the price range. And what areas would they advice us to stay away from

I can see I have asked same question here 3 years ago,

For new people I suggest to live near NE-SE border.
It's centre point; all immigrants community nearby. Asian/African shops. Cheap rent.
Pick house near LRT or in front of bus stop which connected direct to LTR and shopping malls.
Mostly in these area school are 5-10 min walk.
Avoid places where you need to take 2-3 buses to go LRT (local train station)
Avoid renting in Top NE even basement cheap, lot of desi and near LRT. Or in extreme south Even those basement are new and nice. But it will take you lot of time if you get job on other side of city. So centre parts are best in those sense. Best if if you can afford buy cheap 2-3 bedroom townhouse under 200k. Mortgage will be lot cheaper then rent. Then in future you can sell that and upgrade to new house.

Do not sign any documents with any realtor. Believe me they are most friendly people in Canada but will cost 10000~20000 out of your pocket for free.
