Nice one! in addition, CIC does consider ( at least takings its time ) when Option C doesn't reflect true income as some might have put different #'s for tax reasons. There is a user in main PGP thread who sent explanation from her accountant, although the user hasn't been accepted yet but CIC-M haven't refused her app outright and has probably sent it it for more review ( considering they haven't replied so far )
Are there are similarities to the new 3 year PGP app, not sure but something to ponder especially for those who are short few hundreds etc

That's interesting.. Everyone who called the CIC was told that we need to submit the ORIGINAL FORM with ORIGINAL SIGNATURES and NO SCANNED COPIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. This is where I'm getting confused over the process that CIC is taking.. !! Very misleading !!

Very interesting turn of event. I would be very interested in how that application turned out later at detail examination stage (approval stage?) as to whether or not CIC will actually accept it for further processing. If it went through further processing bonus for those who submitted scanned signatures.

In 2013, CPC-M did send a letter to sponsors saying "application is complete and in queue" after they determined the application was received as complete. This is for the step before AIP (decision on sponsorship)

Screech hates Parents Sponsorship anyways so its obvious his replies will try to undermine and confuse people. As far as I know he tries to indulge in all threads with this snide remarks, and as you said correctly, insults others too. I urge others to ignore this chap

Now wait for a harper style remark from this fella
ZIDYAY and petersiddle28, Screech is not even in the running in this years cap and he going around throwing accusations at people with his "holier than thou" attitude. Its obvious that Screech is nothing but a deterrent here, so its best to just ignore that chap no matter how much he provokes you with his insignificant mouthy comments. Arguing with that chauvinist guy is proving counter productive to the intention of this forum topic.

Lets wait and see how everyone fares.... Good luck all!

I am a man of principles and I stand by the fairness for everyone whenever possible. Anyway I have said my piece and leaving it alone. The subject of discussion is considered closed. Moving along now and hope for the best for everyone.

Remember when it comes to issues that are not explicitly explained in the application package guide (like using scanned copies), often the call centre agents you get on the phone don't really know what they're talking about or are just making educated guesses about things. The only ones that really know are those that are actually reviewing the files, and unfortunately you can't talk to them.

It could be that OR the CIC admin clerk who is tasked with processing payments is merely scanning through applications to count if all the mandatory forms and NOA'S are included without actually reading the contents of the forms or NOA's before processing the payments. We have seen so far that only applications with missing documents (forms/NOAs) are being returned by CIC, no other reason has come to light. This clearly indicates that not even the basic assessment of data in the forms/NOA's is being done at this stage. I just hope they send us some form of AOR this year after the payment processing stage so that we get a file number at least to begin communicating with CIC.

As i also mentioned above, it may take until well into 2015 or 2016 for CIC to actually analyze your LICO details. As there is a high chance they would reject your application since you didn't meet the LICO requirements at time of app filing date (requiring 2010 LICO), then by the time you finally get notice of rejection you would have missed out applying in 2015 and 2016, and would need to re-apply in 2017.

Compare that to simply waiting until you qualify up-front, and using your 2011, 2012, 2013 NOAs to apply properly in Jan 2015.

As i've also stated, in the grand scheme of PGP program, there will hardly be any difference in the times it takes to get PR for those that applied in Jan 2014 or Jan 2015. Both sets of applicants will most likely be approved/arriving in the same year.

stupid question guys, has anyone sent the same application for sponsoring both parents, or do you have to do 2 separate ones?
I was almost done and then messed myself up thinking about that.

No questions are stupid, there are only stupid answers hehe :D

You complete one application with one of your parents as principal applicant and the other parent added as dependent on that application.

Did your 2012 total income meet the necessary LICO amount for parents??

If so, then with 2012, 2013 and 2014 NOAs or Option Cs, you can only hope to apply for parents in Jan 2016, assuming the rules are still the same then. If your 2012 did not meet LICO requirement, then you'll need to wait until 2017.

I posted following question to forum: Please read my post here, then read the answer by "screech339" and another example from the Immigration lawyer’s website then please answer the final question according to your experience. There has been confusion about this income issue for sponsoring parents (at least to me its not clear).

Family Class Sponsorship - Parents application 2014 - Income assessment

Hi There,

If anyone can provide some information - that would be awesome.

We are family of 4. I sponsored my brother while ago through APNP. He is just arrived. So now I'm responsible for 5 people including myself. In order to apply for my parents I have to have income of 7 people.

According to CIC website: Guide 5772

Federal Income Table for sponsors of parents and grandparents:

The following table applies to residents of all provinces except Quebec. For each of the three consecutive taxation years preceding the date on which the application is submitted to CIC, the sponsor (and co-signer, if applicable) must meet the Minimum Necessary Income, which is based on the Low Income Cut-offs plus 30%.

Federal Income Table for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship

Size of Minimum Income Minimum Income Minimum Income
Family Unit 2012 2011 2010

2 persons $36,637 $35,976 $35,881

3 persons $45,040 $44,229 $44,113

4 persons $54,685 $53,699 $53,557

5 persons $62,023 $60,905 $60,745

6 persons $69,950 $68,689 $68,509

7 persons $77,879 $76,475 $76,275

More than 7 persons, for each additional person, add

$7,929 $7,786 $7,766

Question that I have:

Q.) I'll be calculating income of 2010, 2011 and 2012 as 4 family person since my brother just arrived in Jan. 2014? Plus add 30% into my income to meet the minimum required for last three years or I'll be calculating 5 person family income for these years?

Q.) My current family income for 2013 is more than minimum required plus 30% since my wife started working but in order to meet this sponsor's requirement I must meet for last 3 years i.e. 2010. 2011 and 2012?

Any further information or experience will be much appreciated.

Best regards to all of you!

screech339 (Champion Member) replied:

you will be calculating your income based on 6 people, not 5. Your family of 4, assuming you, your spouse and 2 kids. Then you will add your 2 parents, making the total to be 6. Your brother is under a difference program and I don't think you are financially responsible for him.

The LICO listed in the table already has the additional 30% built into the minimum requirements.

You must meet the minimum for each of the 2010, 2011 and 2012 for applications submitted this year 2014. You cannot use the 2013 income for 2 reasons. 1: 2013 NOAs will not be released until probably May 2014. Not enough time as the 5000 cap will likely be reached by the time you get 2013 NOA. 2: CIC has not released any 2013 LICO for parents sponsorship so CIC agents cannot compare your 2013 income if there isn't any 2013 LICO released yet.

If you cannot meet the 2010 but you can meet it 2011, 2012, 2013, then you would have to wait until Jan 2015 to apply.

------------------------------------------------------------
PanCanadian Immigration Law Group 2013 Website:

So for example, if you are a family of 4 and you are sponsoring your mother and father, then the family unit would be 6, and require a minimum income of $69,950, $68,689, and $68,509 in each of 2012, 2011, and 2010 respectively.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Q.
Since I’m not meeting the requirement of income for 6 persons I called the CIC hotline to inquire about the question that I will be calculating the my income based on 4 family members or 6 family member for 2012, 2011 and 2010. This agent told me that I’ll be calculating the income for 4 family members since there were only 4 members and you are qualified to apply. I said are you sure and he said yes.

Can please someone clarify this for me – ONLY people who have filed parents application this year 2014. This will be a big help.

Thanks for reading this lengthy post, best regards.
