Hi all,

I'm currently doing the spousal visa outland application, I have obtained my police certificate and will undergo my medical next week. I wanted to know if I would be able to apply for an open work permit after being accepted on this visa or do I have to wait a certain amount of time?

There is no open work permit associated with an outland application. So you'll need to wait until you're a PR to start working, or find an employer willing to go through complex LMIA process to hire you.

Hi!
Im currently on visitor status and my wife already recieve a notification with file number for permanent resident application. I just want to know if I can apply now for an open work permit. Thanks

Are you currently in Canada? Did you apply inland?

If you haven't submitted anything yet, then what did your wife receive?

She applied for provincial nominee for saskatchewan. And shes just waiting for the medical request. But since she already got her file number can I submit now the application for open work permit? While waiting for the medical request? Thanks a lot. Sorry for the inconviniece.

So neither of you is a PR yet, correct? If so, then you are posting in the wrong section. You need to post in the PNP section. This section is for PRs and citizens sponsoring their spouses for PR.

If you really are not living in Canada once you have landed you go straight to Service Canada and apply for a SIN..the line up takes longer then the issuing of the SIN...you will be able to work right away....Hubby landed on 29th April, was a Friday, and got his SIN 02MAY2016( Monday) by 9:30 am!..here is the CIC site...http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-eligible.asp
