I got an update last to last week saying that my files have been transferred to the New Delhi office. What exactly happens there and how long would they take to give me an update? Does the processing slow down when it reaches your country's local office or does it fasten up?

The bulk of the processing happens there. Security, background, relationship etc. This takes longer than the initial sponsor processing.
