Hi,

I am planning to sponsor my parents and I was on maternity leave last year.

1) Can EI maternity payments can be counted towards my annual income?
2) I do get Canadian Child benefits every month - can that also be counted towards the annual income?

Thanks for your replies!

Last 3 years NOA.
For 2017 : 2015, 2014 and 2013...If the income detailed on NOA does not minimum requirements, don't apply, it will get rejected.

There is no minimum income requirement for spousal PR application however, it is best to explain to CIC how both of you can survive with minimal to 0 income without getting/applying for government assistance. You can include your parent letter that they will support you both financial etc.

My husband income is really low but he got sponsored approval.

Hope I answer some of your queries

Jeff, quick question
I sponsored my wife to Canada in 2014
she has 2014 and 2015 option c

she is planning to sponsor her parents in 2017
since she has only 2 years option c, can she still apply ? will it get deny
I will be the cosigner of the application and I have more than 3 years option c available and we will meet the income requirements

thanks

As long as the sponsor or co-sponsor meet the previous 3 years minimum income requirement you are good to go. So for 2017 application, having 2013, 2014 & 2015 (you wont have 2016 until after april)

For the purposes of LICO, you need to look at $$ amount on the line 150 on your NOA.

To answer your questions:

Maternity income is considered as income as it falls under "special benefits". But pls note, other general EI are not considered as income for this purpose.

Child tax benefit CAN NOT be included.
