Hi folks!

Firstly, I want to thank everyone here for offering me help and support through my PR application. I could not have prepared such a mighty, huge and ultimately scary application without all of your help and guidance, so for that I thank you.

It's a hard process and it has been great to be a part of a community where people will help each other and share their experiences. I'm so much wiser because of it.

What this boils down to is that my fiance and I have decided to withdraw my PR common law application. Our lives, although they belong together, do not belong to Canada. We have decided, that after our honeymoon later this year we won't be returning but instead setting up somewhere that is not only very dear to us, but a place that will ultimatelybe better in the long run.

My final question for you all then is simple...what do I do to withdraw my application? And how do I go about getting the money refunded?

Any help or knowledge here is very much appreciated. I am aware of their being a cancel application in the e-cas page for the sponsor but I have a feeling it's more complicated to withdraw and get a refund.

Thanks for your help in advance, and for every thing else.

At the bottom of the page there is a link for withdrawing your application. Not sure if that is what you already have or not.

Hope everything works out for you!

I see it. I guess I send them an email and they reply?

I haven't paid the ropff yet though. I've only paid the sponsor part ($75) which I know is non refundable and the applicants first part, so $475 (?). It is that part I need refunded. Is that possible? And does anyone know if it is just send them an email?

Thanks again!

Here's the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=353&t=14
-If your sponsorship assessment has been completed, but CIC has not begun processing the application for the person you are sponsoring, when you withdraw your application, the C$75 sponsorship fee will be kept and the remainder of the fees will be refunded.

-If your sponsorship assessment has been completed and CIC has started to process the application for the person you are sponsoring when you withdraw your application, only the Right of Permanent Residence Fee will be refunded (if applicable).

So it really depend on how they classify the status of your app now with the VO, and what they consider "started to process". Hopefully this means if your status in ECAS hasn't changed to "in process", you could get the money refunded.

Thanks rob! No they haven't started looking at my app yet! :)

I guess that means I write a letter sign it and email it to them at the email provided.

Thanks for your help!
