My husband just realized that he made a mistake in the application in the Sponsored Spouse Questionnaire -Q#11. It asks if his family and friends met me and who and when they met me? He by mistake put his dad met me when his dad had already passed away like ten years ago. As it happened a long time ago he did not remember and routinely added his dad's name to the list of his family who had gone to our house as family friends ...like his mom and other siblings who met our family at that time.

Now he and I are freaking out about it. I don't even know what the procedure to correct such errors on the application? I also forgot to attach pictures for my reception ceremony.

GRR!! I had reviewed everything so many times and still I am finding errors and missing things 3 months after i have submitted my application. What do I do now? Please advise?

Would this be noted as a major error?

Has anyone else had to correct any such errors? Has fixing these errors effected the application more than just letting it be and have them notice it first and then we can send a correction letter?

I wish I could help... here is the best advice I could possibly give. I'm sure someone else could advise better, but I would honestly wait it out. You may have an interview. If the IO brings it up, explain. Those are errors, yes, but not HUGE HUGE errors. For example, if I were judging your case, I wouldn't deny you based on those things. If you have an interview, bring those reception pictures. Don't mention errors unless they ask, if they ask, explain.

Hope that helps. Try to relax as best as you can, this process isn't easy... but someday you will look back and be so thankful it's over!! Good luck :)

Based on what CIC says for processing times, Islamabad takes a little while, so if you don't hear anything, don't panic if you are in normal processing times. Hope that helps!

Hi Humpakwatan,

Sorry to hear that, Pictures you can send them at any time once your sponsered received AOR from embassy,
Infact It will be written in the AOR letter if you have not supplied us pictures please do soo,

In term of the correction, I would suggest please fill out that particular form again with the correct information and type a letter with the explaination and send it to embassy same time when you are ready to send them pictures and additional documents after receiving AOR letter.

Cheers.

Thank you for your replies nyssa and one2ka4.

I will have him print up pictures to send to Islamabad and the one page with mistake in it corrected with an explanation letter. All this tension is taking a toll on me and our relationship. I want to relax and then he/i notice something wrong in the application and start freaking out all over again and panicking. Then comes the blame game and then its really just a lot of stress on both of us.

hoping for the best once again...(*until i notice another error)

I would agree with nyssa just wait it out , I am pretty sure they are well aware none of the forms they receive are going to be error free , If all goes fine then thats good if you get called for an interview just explain it there if asked, as far as i know you can still send your reception pics to the embassy in islamabad just write your client id number and a brief note explaining you forgot to attach them because more than likely they are going to ask for them sooner or later if you mentioned you had a reception in your application .

Having claimed to have met your spouse's dead father is not just a minor slip. I think you were right to fix the error and send in a new page with an explanation. It's just a minor mistake to us, but the visa officer will notice it and then think that everything you've written about meeting his family is not true.

If you had claimed to have met his dead father, that would raise concerns. For him to do it - not so much, as it's clearly a mistake on his part not a deception. IMHO and all that. I know CIC are sticklers for punishment, but they can't expect us to be superhumanly correct, surely?

It was on his application and he had claimed that I met his father. I guess Its best to wait till he gets a case file number so he can send this stuff to there. Is it also okay to add more proof for staying in touch? Like newer ways we keep in touch now via Skype rather than phone coz it got very costly with the international calls and text messages.

I wouldn't worry about sending additional evidence of continued contact. Keep track of it, though, because they may ask for it later, such as at an interview.

I am concerned about the claim to have met his dead father. This detail will raise suspicions, I think. If I were you, I would want to tell them about the error before they act instead of after, because I think it may raise doubts about what else you are lying about.

Pictures of the reception would be useful, but I wouldn't submit them unless they ask for additional information later. If they want them, they'll ask.

This situation is proof positive of why everyone should have someone else check over their application after they have completed it. And I only mean someone detail oriented to look for errors, not hire someone. We can often be blind to our own mistakes because we've looked at something so many times and our brains are "expecting" to see something.

It is an error. In this situation, I would correct the form and send it and the pictures from the reception to the Visa Post along with a letter explaining this error and asking them to accept the corrected form and the pictures you had forgotten to send. They must consider all information they receive before a decision has been made. I don't know why everyone is against sending proof of continued contact. Yes, they will ask for it normally to be brought at the time of an interview. But who wants an interview? If sending more proof will have the potential to prevent an interview based on genuineness, then I advise sending it. Not every week or month but one more package at around the midway point of the processing or a little after.
