I want to have a degree in accounting as I believe it is the most wanted jobs now in the market. However, I wonder if it continues to be like that after I graduated or else? As I research, I find out there are many degree regarding business with different name? Can anybody help me to understand the difference between the three and what is the benefits accompany each?

Bachelor of Applied Business Administration
Bachelor of Business Administration
Bachelor of Commerce

By the way, I am an international student who is long to become a Canadian citizen. As you may know that tuition of international student is ridiculously three time more expensive than of native students. Here is my plan, I will go to college (NAIT at Edmonton, Alberta) get a degree in accounting (this job is hot!) and the school guarantee job for graduated student. Also, NAIT allows student to practice in year 2, so I guess by the time I finish college, I can apply for Canadian citizenship or I have to work for another one year? Then if I become Canadian citizenship, I will go to university to get what I really want, degree in International Business. Also, as I research, I know that the Canadian government only accept 15,000 applicants a years. Do you have any tips to guarantee your application? And do you know how long does it take to compete your application? Under what occasions your application will be rejected?

By the way, do I have any other way than this? I have just find out this on http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/study.asp

Working after graduation

The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program allows you to gain valuable Canadian work experience after you have completed your studies in Canada. This can help you apply to become a permanent resident of Canada.

To qualify, you must have graduated from a public or private institution that grants degrees recognized by the province or territory. These institutions may include a university, college or CEGEP.

Work permits under this program are valid for the length of your study program, up to a maximum of three years. For example, if you graduate from a four-year degree program, you could be eligible for a three-year work permit. If you graduate from an eight-month certificate program, you would be eligible for a work permit that is valid for eight months.

You must apply for a post-graduation work permit within 90 days of receiving written confirmation from your educational institution that you have met the requirements for completing your academic program.

With this permit, you can work in any occupation and change employers anytime you wish.

=> by this, meaning that you will allow to work, under that extension, after you graduation regardless it is not certain that any employees will hire you at that time? And you can apply even though you are unemployed at that time?

Please help me on this

Thank you for your time

P/s: Btw, I ask the same question on ask.yahoo.ca, and the reply is not positive. They said that Canadian Government excludes accounting and business when consider international student applicants for PR, is that myth or truth? And I look up for eligible occupations to apply for permanently staying in Canada, the accounting technicians is considered as ineligible occupation, but accounting technicians is different from accounting, isn't it? :'( Do you know any jobs are in demand in the next 4 years? :o

I looked up and found out that Accounting Technicians (Accounting technicians and bookkeepers (NOC 1311)) are ineligible to apply for CEC. I believe Accounting Technicians and Accounting of Bachelor of Applied Business Administration are different, am I correct? Here is the website where I found the information: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

well I dont understand how ru guaranteed job? please explain
U cannot use ur job experience accumulated during ur studies for applying under CEC PR stream . so u need PGWP ..with PGWP u need to work for 1 year and then apply for PR. normally people have to do two 1 year courses to get a longer PGWP to apply for PR and eventually cost will be more or less the same.

Well guarantee a job meaning that the school will help you to find a job after you graduated.
By the way, what is PGWP? and what is PNP?

well they may help but job is not guaranteed.....it usually takes a few months to find a job. PGWP is post graduate work permit which u will require to work and which has a validity depending on ur study period. for more info read following link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad.asp

as for PNP its provincial nominee program it varies from province to province u need to look at PNP of the province where u would work.

Normally, people would go for a minimum of two year program for a PGWP.

Their job is to educate you. Their job is NOT to get you a job. There is nothing that says they are required to find you a job ater you graduate. You could be completely unemployable regardless of diplomas, degrees etc. It is 100% up to you to find a job.

By the way, what is PGWP? and what is PNP?

PGWP = Post Graduate Work Permit which you MAY (not will) be eligible for after graduation.

PNP = Provincial Nominee Program

So if you wish to become an accountant you will have to get CPA designation in the end. The best way to get it is to get a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. Then when you enroll into CPA most of the courses there will be transferred from your bachelor degree.

By the way, I am an international student who is long to become a Canadian citizen. As you may know that tuition of international student is ridiculously three times more expensive than of native students.
Nothing is ridiculous about it. What will be ridiculous if Canada subsidizes international students' tuition as it does for domestic students. Go to USA and pay their tuition for international students. USA prices ARE ridiculous.
Here is my plan, I will go to college (NAIT at Edmonton, Alberta) get a degree in accounting (this job is hot!) and the school guarantee job for graduated student.
There is NO guarantee for any job in any place in Canada and worldwide.
Also, NAIT allows student to practice in year 2, so I guess by the time I finish college, I can apply for Canadian citizenship or I have to work for another one year?
When you look at such things you should look carefully if that offer applies to INTERNATIONAL students. Or do you mean co-op program? Well, you can enroll into such a program, only you will pay tuition for co-op semester. (Maybe you will find a paid co-op job and in such a way reimburse your expenses for this “co-op” semester).
Than if I become Canadian citizenship, I will go to university to get a university degree.
Any BACHELOR is a degree. Do you mean masters? Well, for an accountant it is more important to get CPA designation than masters. However, after you get CPA you may get Masters. It will be easy because CPA courses usually transfer into masters in accounting.

Also, as I research, I know that the Canadian government only accept 15,000 applicants a years. Do you have any tips to guarantee your application? And do you know how long does it take to compete your application
Canada is a slow country nothing happens fast here. And there is no other way than usual to get citizenship.
Under what occasions your application will be rejected?
If you lie and misrepresent your info.

by this, meaning that you will allow to work, under that extension, after you graduation regardless it is not certain that any employees will hire you at that time? And you can apply even though you are unemployed at that time?
You can start here. Read everything under each heading.

I know the list of eligible occupations which you mention but of CEC. Even I did researched! I still want to listen to other peoples' opinion and ideas. I posted this question on this forum, one on ask.yahoo.ca and on Facebook as well to see what people think and I will learn something else than on the website. Also, I just want to ask questions and consult peoples who had been through so it will easier for me, isn't that the purpose of this forum? Btw, I want to apply for PR under CEC.

I know Bachelor is a degree. However, I still want to go university to pursuit what I really like: International Business. However, by saying university degree, I may have misled you, excuse me for that.

Considering your grammar is well below expected and needed to work in your chosen field in Canada, you should start by improving your english before you even consider going further. You would have a very difficult time securing a job, ass your English stands now. Yes, it would improve with studies in Canada but honestly, I think you need to improve it before you even go that far. COMM here is tough. Even for someone like me who grew up with it. Even born Canadians complain.

The business writing class I am in now is no walk in a park, and I even have experience running a business.

So, the best advice for you is to start there. Now, if you happen to be good (as in better than your english) in French, start looking at Quebec.

Wow! Yes, ma'am I knew that website. And you know what I get when I type CPA? "Canada Planing Page" "Canadian Payroll Association" "Canadian Physiotherapy Association" etc. Happy? I just have been in this forum couple times, and is it my ignorance that I don't understand the abbreviation??

I am not gonna excuse myself for that because everybody makes mistake when they type and submit the post without proofreading, or they did but nervous when they think about those people who will be picky at their grammatical errors! What is wrong with you? If you couldn't help me or answer my question, why are you picky me on this little thing? Yea... I understand your hardness when you study business. But it doesn't mean you can spur it all over me! And you know what? I AM NOT YOU! So I will be FINE!
