I am an Indian. I got accepted to a private college in Canada and I was informed that the chance of my application being rejected is virtually zero. The process was done by an immigration consultant that the college offered.

Now, my visa request got rejected. The admission officer is puzzled why Indians NEVER get a visa for the private colleges and suggested that I apply to a public college and once I reach Canada on that visa, to just move the collage. While, the consultant is asking for a $150 consultation fee and $500 for requesting the reason for refusal.

Now I am suspicious of what is going on.
  • I was never informed by the college that Indian have a less chance of getting into a private collage and a past experience was not mentioned before.
  • From what I gathered from this forum, the process for requesting reason is GCMS and it only cost $5.
My main concern is since I am rejected and the class started in September. Is there anything that I can actually do to reach my class by September?

Is this normal procedure? The sudden new info by the college and the inflated charges has made me suspicious.

Attending a private college is a very bad choice if you want a future in Canada. Private colleges offer a poor level of education and have bad reputations with employers in Canada. Also, you generally do not qualify for a Post Graduate Work Permit if you attend a private college. You should avoid private colleges and pick a public college or university program instead.

Yes - if you reapply immediately, it's possible you may be approved before classes start in September. But again, I would very highly recommend that you forget about attending a private college. Again, they are bad.

Agree with the fella above: private colleges are a terrible choice if you want a future here. Also, I recommend you to apply on your own with no consultants or bullshit like that. They just want your money and they'll say what you want to hear as long as you keep paying them.
