I am an international student and I was suspended from my university last fall for a year for poor academic performance. So I left Canada and returned to my country and spent the past 9 months here. Now I am planning to return back to Canada. I reapplied and got into my program in my uni. My study permit has 4 more months before expiry. So I have enough time to get back into Canada and apply for extension.

I just want to know what would be the status of my study permit. Will I be denied entry into Canada. I have spent a fortune on my Canadian education and I don't want it to go to waste. Please if someone can guide me I would be extremely grateful.

Your study permit will have been canceled since you stopped attending school. You need to apply for a new one fullowing the current rules.

Can I apply after entering Canada. My visa is valid for another year, study permit for another 4 months.

Will I have any issues at the airport?

No. You have to apply for the new study permit from outside of Canada. I would hurry and get the application in asap if you plan to restart your studies in the fal.

A few people in Canada advised me that I could travel to Canada without any issues.

Will CBSA know I stopped attending. I got readmitted to uni too

CBSA will be able to see that your study permit has been canceled.

Suggest you read the below link in detail to determine if you qualify to apply for a new study permit from within Canada or at the POE. Based on the information you have provided so far, you don't. Note that the rules have changed recently and the people advising you may not be familiar with the new rules. You may also need PAL/TAL.

Would add that schools were supposed to be reporting students who did not attend in the past but there was zero coordination between IRCC and schools so many got away with doing what you are suggesting. That has ended and schools are now reporting which international students are actually attending classes so that IRCC can cancel permits for students who aren’t studying. You may also want to speak to the international student office at your university.
