Hi everyone,

Forgive my question if it comes across as a dumb one. I came to Canada alone and was accepted as a refugee. I included my family on my PR application and they got their PR after I landed. My question is are they also refugees or not. I am asking because my spouse may need to travel to homeland to attend to an urgent matter. To be clear - I do not intend to travel to homeland for a very very long time.

Thanks in advance.

Have they received their PR cards yet? Unless you included them on your refugee application, they should be permanent residents. The re-availment should not be an issue for them. Others can confirm.

Correct they are PRs. The optics are not great especially if you described that your family was at risk in your refugee application.

Yes they have their PR. They arrived as Permanent Residents.
