My husband is in India and currently putting together his paperwork, then he will courier to me, and I will send along with my sponsor paperwork. But he has come across something a bit confusing... does this even apply to us?? Does he need to somehow upload an electronic police certificate or something in addition to our paper application that I am sending everything all together??

This is quoted from his email to me:
I was going through the http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp, when we move to part 3 under http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3904E.pdf country specific instructions, go to page 5, column 6, police certificate and clearances, they ask for the certificate while we click on the link in this column it says:
Do I need to provide a Police Certificate for Express Entry?
Yes. If you are invited to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence, you need to upload a police certificate in your Electronic Application for Permanent Residence (e-APR). Please follow the instructions above to get your police certificate.
NOTE: CIC will not accept police certificates sent by mail for Express Entry applications.
I'm a bit confused, is it after you're invited to apply or just at the this initial stage?

What is ITA?? Am I applying for express entry? Is this part of the spouse sponsorship?? I am really confused.

ITA is the invitation to apply for Express Entry. Express Entry is an economic immigration program. It has nothing to do with spousal sponsorship.

Okay because when I looked I only saw this:

POLICE CERTIFICATES AND CLEARANCES
Police certificates or clearances from each country in which you and every one in your family aged
18 years or older have resided for six months or more since reaching 18 years of age. You must
attach the original police document(s). Please consult our website for specific and up-to-date
information on how to obtain police certificates from any country.

Which would mean he just sends the original police certificates to me by courier with his application correct? (can't be photocopy even if it's notarized copy) is what I am assuming.

1. Correct, Police Certificates must be originals.
