what is Backlog? how it works for applicants of 2016?

submitted application on march , and application status missing!!! now they provide express number ? will it be fast or not? and what about backlog strategy of cic ? will it cover for such case?

when cic miss your application then they provide a special number for resubmitting application, whic will save your processing time according to cic , but exactly what will happen lets see

CIC lost the application, and I'm assuming have promised expedited processing of the resubmitted app.

missing app too,, 2012 first app then resubmitted app april 2016,no way processing is faster coz mine until now is
1. app received
2.started processing
 
Erm, what did you do to resubmit an application, seen as how if they lost it that means they lost your originals??? like, for example, if you submit originals of electricty bills or boarding passes, how did you get round that? did you submit copies and let them know that they lost originals? or did they expect you to have originals and resubmit them? Seems weird that they would lose your relationship evidence and then expect originals again, right? just curious.

Well I don't know about OP, but we didn't submit originals of anything except my wife's PCC.

Everything was photocopied or printed.
 
Thanks, ImABule! So how about stuff like receipts for cinema tickets, or shopping receipts, or electricity bills - is it ok to submit just copies? (there was this whole confusion about notarized copies in other threads...) :) thanks!

We scanned and printed all reciepts and postcards etc. We printed all photos on printer paper from a Word document. We explained that we are providing copies of the relationship proofs for sentimental reasons and if they would like originals to request them and we will send them. The only things that need to be notarized and certified and translated are actual required documents such as birth certificates and marriage certificates, if they are not already in English or French. My wife is Indonesian, and luckily all official documents in Indonesia are in both English and Indonesian, and so we were not required to translate any of our official documents.
 
Oooohh!!! I see, that REALLY explains a lot! Ok, so I can see now that there is no reason to send them, say, our credit card statements or boarding passes. I was kind of worried about that (but then, I worry about everything!) Thanks so much ! :)

PS do you think that the Canada Post strike will affect applications sent by courier? As in, if we send ours in, say, August, will they start processing it, or is it going to wait until the strike is over?

We also scanned boarding passes, passport stamps, and our joint credit card statement.

It won't affect the processing of your application, but I do not know what they have planned for PPR if the Canada Post is on strike.
 
I hope that by that stage it will have been resolved! We didn't send it in yet, so it will be a few months at the very best before it reaches that stage. also, I am visa exempt, so I think it's just the COPR that will involve the mail, right? at any rate, a mighty thanks to you! :)

Yes, they will send your COPR in the mail.

I doubt it will affect your app if you won't be submitting for a few months.

As for originals vs. Photocopies we stuck to the country specific guide and provided originals where indicated, even if the generic guide stated a photocopy was sufficient. One example is our marriage certificate which needed to be an original copy issued by the nso in the Philippines. For relationship proof we used originals where possible like the receipts and our wedding invitation and photos. Of course everything we sent was scanned as backup first so we still have a copy.

As for the canada post strike, I avoided that completely by sending our app via FedEx. It was more expensive and cost like $65, but for a one time thing and guaranteeing it will be there in one business day, it was worth it.

And I would hope the postal strike would be over in a month or 2, well before they would be anywhere near ready to send us a copr.

Yes, some countries are required to submit original documents. We chose not to send originals except for PCC in case our file was misplaced. If they lost our file my wife would only need to obtain a new PCC and we would still have the entire application ourselves to resubmit.

Btw $65 is not so bad. Ours cost over $100 from Ottawa to CPC-M lol. Although our app weighed 11lbs.
