what if some things are not applicable?

if something is not applicable (say, co-signer or principle applicant's kids, ect)
should i just leave it blank? or should i write n/a?)

You should definitely write N/A
Do not leave any blanks, unless it's things like Dates where you can't actually type N/A from your computer. But for names etc, always write N/A where you can.
Your file could be returned back to you if you leave any blanks.
