Hi everyone. I'm hoping you can help me out with an issue I'm experiencing with e-CAS and reassure me that I'm not the only one experiencing it (because I haven't found anyone else posting about it here).

So, I signed up for e-cas tracker at the time I submitted my application. A few days ago I received sponsorship approval (or rather, my sponsoring husband got approval), and in short course followed an email from the e-cas tracker letting me know that it was able to successfully log in and which which parameters.

I went to the e-cas log-in page (specifically, this was the link that says "Client application status" or, if you're at the page that is titled "Online Services" with a bunch of links following, it's "Check --> Your Application Status" in the "Other Online Services" box) and put in all the information that e-cas tracker was able to get in with. I too, got in (after ok'ing the page that explains who may use the service, etc. as well as that which lists the terms and conditions, I got to the one where I could put in my info and voila...).

But...the next page I saw said "If you want to see the details of an application, click on the underlined status." And the "underlined status" read: "Please remove the ability for me or anyone else to view the status of my application on this Web site.
Note: Once you withdraw your consent, your application status will no longer be available on the Internet. Learn about other ways of receiving information about the processing and status of your application by contacting us." If I check the box next to this paragraph I get to a page that asks, "Do you want to remove your status information from the Internet?"

Needless to say, these kinds of statements make me hesitate to be clicking anywhere until I understand more fully what is going on here and what the consequences would be.

So.....does anyone know what this would do and have you experienced the same thing upon logging in to e-cas???

Merci d'avance.

This happens right in the beginning when your e-cas is probably just getting started. I got the same message, and this message will basically stay there to let you change your preference, in case you don't want to see the status.
You did right by not checking the box and updating it. That would have disabled the ability for you to view the progress.

e-cas tracker lets you know when your e-cas got activated. Also, whenever there will be a change.
Right now, since you just got the sponsorship approval, it will slowly come up on your e-cas...give it a week to slowly update the address, and then you will see "Decision Made" under an option "Sponsorship Approval". That decision made option will be underlined, where you can click and see further details.
I had the same thing, and I am sure others too when it just started to activate the e-cas. Nothing to worry about, just keep checking, you may very soon see Decision made for sponsor approval, and for PR Application it will say "Not Available" for sometime, and then "Application Received" to "In process" and so on :)

No no no, you don't want to click that box. Neither you nor anyone else will be able to see your applications status online.

What they mean by underlined status is "Decision Made" for "sponsorhip approval", which will basically tell you what you already know about being approved to sponsor. When the visa office receives the applicant's file and enters it on their system, you will see 'Permanent Resident Application" change from "Not Applicable" to "Application Received" and then further updates from there. This is of course using the sponsor's information.

Thanks Sparkle and Charlie, you're lifesavers. I'm relieved to hear that this is normal! I thought e-cas tracker was telling me not only can it log in but presumably there is a message there to be read (in fact, I thought a message being there was the reason it became accessible at all). Now that I think about it, it makes sense that it's just set up for me, but that doesn't mean there's anything there. OK - I'm not going to touch it and I'll revisit it a week later or if I get a new message from the tracker - and hopefully the message about removing info or ability to access info will not be there anymore!!

I know this is off topic. But how soon can I register with e-CAS?

I have the receipt number and was told I could register with that but it says it is not recognised. Do I have to wait until they have made a decision on my sponsorship application?

None of your information will show up until they get to your sponsorship application. It's not really a registration. It's just the ability to look stuff up. I don't know if Matthew's ECAS tracker is still around. Lots of people were using that to get ECAS updates. I'm sure someone can post the link.

That message will always be there. Just don't click it as long as you want to be able to access your info online.

Ah ok.....so I guess it's more of looking for stuff next time (transferred to Buffalo, Decision Made, etc.) rather than expecting the message to go away?

Yes, exactly.

Yeah, agreed with rjessome. It's not a registration per se and the fact that the info isn't recognized is because your file hasn't been looked at enough to set something up there....that's where the tracker comes in handy.....manually trying to get in there every day or week or whatever is not efficient.

Ok great, thanks folks.... I will check the tracker.

Best wishes everyone!
