What happens if I need a visa to go to the VO where my application is being processed for interview?

My application is being processed in Vienna. Let's hypothetically assume that they are calling me for an interview. I need a visa to enter Austria and I don't have one. What can be done under such circumstances? Is there a chance to conduct the interview in a country with a Canadian embassy where I don't have to get a visa?

What if I'm from a country without a lot of people that need interviewing? Is there a chance they'll ask me to go to Austria, because that'd be a mess.

It is very unlikely that you will be asked to go to Austria. There is a small chance you could be asked to go to a neighbouring country but usually interviews take place in your home country.
